In the lesson about turtles, students will:
- Watch the short video (below) about turtles that is brought to you by Three Rivers Park District. This video explains features of the turtle shell, introduces the Painted Turtle and the Snapping Turtle, shows how the turtle eats, and highlights when and where turtles lay eggs.
- Use the turtle activity to label the parts of a painted turtle, draw where turtles in a location where they may find food and in a location where they may go to get warm. Then go on a turtle hunt at a local pond or throughout your neighborhood if possible.
