CLEVERSHARE FAQ’s
Q: “The Number at the top of my screen keeps changing. Do I need to reenter the number every time?”
The short answer is no. Once the connection has been established it stays connected. You have to physically select the "disconnect" option in order for it to lose the connection.
However if the connection goes unused for more than 15 minutes the connection will be dropped automatically. The reason that number cycles and changes out is partly to prevent the students from connecting to your panel from a different room and is partly due to the "peer to peer" protocol used to make that communication.
Q: “Can I make the displayed number go away?”
Unfortunately no. Clevertouch is aware that this has been requested and they hope to make it part of future firmware updates, but as of right now it will stay displayed.
Q: “Why can’t I connect using the App?”
There may be a couple of reasons for this:
Both the computer and the Clevertouch must be on the same sub-net, not just the same network but the same sub-net as well. Otherwise you cannot connect to the Clevertouch via Clevershare app.
Additionally there are some other network requirements that can be learned about in the following document: (Insert link to Clevertouch Network Requirements .pdf document.)
Q: “There seems to be a lag/delay when using the Clevershare App, is this normal?”
Yes, there is a bit of LAG (5-7 seconds for most tasks) when using the Clevershare app. The delay will be longer if you’re streaming video. Clevertouch is aware of this and is working on a solution, but as of right now a hardwired connection is the best, most stable solution.
Q: Is there a more stable option over the app that would still allow me to not have to be hard-wired?
You do have the option to purchase an after-market Clevershare USB Transmit/Receiver pair.
https://www.clevertouch.com/accessories/clevershare. The great thing about this is it bypasses the limitations of needing to be on the same subnet, as this dongle will make its own ad-hoc network connection. Full disclosure: There will still be delay/lag when using this option. Clevertouch is aware of this and is working on a resolution.
If you would like to look into this option this is available through Tierney Sales staff. We’ll be happy to get you in touch with your sales representative to facilitate this purchase.
Q: Can I turn off the touch interaction?
You have two options. Both require getting into the debug menu.
The following process will access the main board of the Clevertouch Panel. Options in this menu can cause irreparable harm to the Clevertouch, please be advised to follow these steps and only select options that have been advised by Support personal.
With the Clevertouch unit powered up, using the remote press the following sequence of buttons:
“INPUT” “1” “3” “7” “9” and wait a couple of seconds (no more than 5)
This should pull up the “Debug Menu” (if it doesn’t re-input the sequence above)
Select “Other settings”
then switch “Touch Forbidden” to “on”
This will make it so NO touch works at all on the board it will be nothing more than a screen at that point.
