Figurative Language Escape Room

Targeted grades: 8-12

Lesson description: Crack the codes to escape from the Haunted Mansion, using your knowledge of figurative language, before you too, are trapped forever. 

This fun digital escape room, which uses Google Slides, Google Forms and Google Sheets, has your students solving puzzles using their knowledge of figurative language and then entering in a code to a Google Form to escape from the haunted mansion before it is too late. Students should have knowledge of similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, personification, alliteration, allusion, puns, and oxymorons.

How to:

1. Force a copy of the student slides for students to interact with individually or as a team. 

*To force a copy, change the last word in the URL share link from edit to copy.

2. Give the students the link to the Google Form to fill out after they have completed a puzzle. *Remind students to enter codes EXACTLY as the form says. Otherwise the answer will be incorrect.
